Dinner @Backporch in Destin

We received a recommendation to eat at The Backporch while in Destin. We pulled up and it looked fun--lots of people waiting and playing on the beach out back. We quickly realized this may not meet our dining expectations when both the hostess and waitress separately recommended we order the chicken (What?!? Chicken? We're in Florida!) Anyway, it was a cool twist to meet the family seated behind us as Calvin worked his charm and introduced himself. Come to find out, they have a 25-year old daughter (and sister) w/ Down sydrome who lives in Cape Giradeau, MO (and was too busy to come w/ her family on vacation to the beach:)! Small world! They were so impressed w/ how well Calvin is doing and provided a very memorable conversation despite our mediocre meal. Perhaps The Backporch was were we were meant to be that special evening in Destin all along.
