Camping

Well, we've pretty much established that if we go camping, we should plan on rain. This time, at least it wasn't the tornados we encountered on our camping adventure last year. Just light rain that delayed our dinner for an hour or so. We had the run of our area of the campground -- no other tents within eyesight, which was nice. The challenge we haven't found a way to overcome is getting the kids to be nice to each other... only ever two at a time seem to be getting along. But I seem to recall that being the case with my sister, step-brother, and me to some extent. In any case, it was great to stoke a fire and sleep under the huge full moon listening to the sounds of summer fade into a crisp fall evening.

Want to do a Triathlon? "Sure" OK, we'll sign you up...

Little did we realize we signed her up for the "Iron Man" of kids triathlons for her first attempt. Maybe "Iron Kids" should have given us a clue...

But she did great.

More back to school

Yes, folks, this is ONE bus stop in our immediate neighborhood.  Don't drink the water.

First day of School

OK, so you can probably tell I'm not blogging in any sort of historical order. Fortunately, this can all be fixed later (but, probably won't). Hope you enjoy.

Walking bridge in Iowa

Had fun on a cool and breezy day walking on a bridge that is now part of a bike path converted from a railway. Kids did great walking over 2 miles. So did grandparents.
