Barking Sands Beach

We ended our first day in Kauai w/ a ~4 mile off road adventure to find this little gem of a beach (Barking Sands). The cliffs behind us and the miles and miles of beach were enough to take our breath away. Sadly, jetlag caught up w/ me at this stop and I was very TIRED after our day exploring Waimea Canyon (Doug will post pictures of that, I'm sure), so I will fondly remember this beach as the one where I slept!!

We simply fell in love w/ this island! It provided a wonderful mix of opportunities for activity and relaxation--a perfect mix for us. The beaches were absolutely incredible and DESERTED!! We were amazed at all of this beautiful shoreline w/ no one on it! Perhaps it was the time of year, but we weren't complaining! More to come...

Kauai Coffee Company

The first morning of our trip we were anxious for some of Kauai's coffee, so we set off to the Kauai Coffee Company. It was an old sugarcane factory converted into a coffee company. We could sample 'til our hearts content and I wanted to try my favorite caramel latte at a Hawaii coffee joint, I figured it would be ultra-tasty, but not so much. Honestly, overall, we were very disappointed w/ Kauai's coffee selection (anywhere) and laugh that our favorite coffee in Kauai was from Nicaragua!!!:) Oh well, the experience was still worth it:).

September

As I'm sitting here listening to U2, downloading pictures for printing, it is w/ a heavy heart I bid farewell to this sweet September! What a month! St. Louis w/ the kids, U2 concert in Chicago and an incredible, amazing, breathtaking, romantic, unforgettable celebration of 10 years of marriage in Kauai. Wow, this is a month I won't soon forget... Thanks God for an amazing ride!
